Wow Air Airbus A330neo NEW DESTINATIONS

Uganda goes ape for sustainability

New routes taking off

With a new premium service and new routes from London to Orlando and New Delhi, Wow Air (EU1728) is certainly living up to its name – it’ll offer a total of 38 long- and short- haul routes from December. The Icelandic carrier is continuing its bullish expansion with its first stop in south Asia hinting at the next phase of development. The New Dehli flights launch next month with one-way fares from £149 including taxes, or from £499 one-way on the new premium service. UK travellers will have to fly via Reykjavik, but as with all Wow routes this is offered as a stopover for those who want to experience the Icelandic capital. It will operate three times per week, increasing to five times weekly from January 2019. Orlando also launches next month, with one-way fares from £129 with taxes, or premium from £519. Flights will operate thrice weekly from Gatwick with a stop in Reykjavik. The new premium service features a wider seat with a pitch of 37”, fast-track security, priority boarding and a meal included. It also allows passengers more flexibility with no charges on changing flights, cancellation protection, two checked bags plus a carry on and an extra personal item such as a handbag or shoulder bag.

New Airbus A330neo aircraft were recently added to the Wow fleet to service long-haul routes and premium seats are being refitted to the existing fleet.

Skuli Mogensen, Wow founder and chief executive, will be on the airline’s stand to share the details.

Gorillas are Uganda’s (AF640) standout attraction, but the tourist board is developing alternative products to advance tourism and help protect the country’s most precious wildlife and natural resources. Responsible tourism is one key area of promotion and Let’s Go Safari Uganda has a number of projects to discuss: Change A Life Bwindi is a non-profit organisation that works with local people to conserve wildlife and the environment; Ride 4 A Woman is a bicycle rental scheme that helps to fund training for women in the village of Buhoma; and a new network of walking trails is being developed around the Bwindi Impenetrable national park.

Three new trails, led by seven trained guides, will allow visitors a glimpse of both local wildlife and a chance to interact with the indigenous Batwa tribe, who lead the tours. Gorilla watching itineraries remain strictly monitored, but by popular demand, the Uganda Wildlife Authority has increased the number of permits available by an

HOLIDAY DESTINATION Sun Resorts offers beach events series

This year at WTM London, Mauritius- based hotel and leisure group Sun Resorts (AS100) is promoting a new product named People of the Sun. The experience is designed to celebrate the Mauritian music scene, bringing resort visitors together with local communities during the early evening at both Long Beach and Sugar Beach resorts. Later, Mauritian DJs will take to the stage. The group’s La Pirogue resort is also adopting a musical focus by introducing Sounds, Mauritius’ first professional recording studio in a hotel environment.

Also in the hotel group’s portfolio is Ambre hotel, Ile aux Cerfs Leisure Island and Kanuhura Maldives, a member of The Leading Hotels of the World luxury collection.

For visitors wanting to add a sporting element to their holiday, they can try the Garuga golf course, or Murchison Falls at Kinvara, or the Jinja Golf

Abacus Africa Vacations, on the Uganda Tourism exhibitions, can help with the logistics of organising golf tours.
