STARRY DROP EARRINGS | INTERMEDIATE
6: SOLDER THE JUMP RING Cut in half a 5mm heavy jump ring and file flat the ends
of it until it is smooth.
Solder it on the top of the dome with some medium solder. Try to heat up the dome surface first and then the jump ring, so the solder can flow easily. Place the earrings in the pickle and wait until they are clean.
8: SOLDER BACK THE
JUMP RING Put at least a 6–7mm thick layer of heat insulating paste on the hookwires, to protect the Cubic Zirconias from damaging during soldering. Be careful not to put any of the paste on the jump ring, because it will contaminate the solder.
Place a small piece of easy solder on the jump ring, and heat up the whole piece until the solder flows.

7: SAW THROUGH THE
JUMP RING Saw through the jump ring in the middle and open it up a little with parallel pliers, then place the hookwire to the ring and close it back.

9: PICKLE THE EARRINGS After soldering, place the earrings into the pickle bath,
then rinse it afterwards.
10: FINISH The easiest way to polish up the earrings is to barrel
polish for about 2–2.5 hours. It’s better to cover up the stones on the hookwires with some tape, so they won’t be damaged during tumbling. Place the mixed steel shots and the earrings into the barrel and add some hot water and a spoon of pumice powder. If you do not have a tumbler, you can clean the earrings up using a micro motor or pendant wheels.
