The operator: Throws line to simulated MOB or reaches with a boat pole, makes two attempts to secure contact with MOB. Turns off engine once physical contact is made with the person. Securely assists MOB alongside the boat’s gunwale to transom or appropriate boarding area. Secures MOB aboard to the boat. Retrieves throwable flotation aid. Maintains proper lookout throughout maneuver with an eye on the MOB. Gives appropriate and timely orders to passengers (if present) in the process of making physical contact with and securing the MOB.
The operator: Does not throw line to simulated MOB or reach with a boat pole. Takes more than two attempts to make secure contact with MOB. Does not turn off engine once physical contact is made with the person. Loses physical contact with the MOB. Does not securely assist MOB alongside the boat’s gunwale to transom or appropriate boarding area. Does not secure MOB aboard the boat. Does not retrieve throwable flotation aid. Does not maintain proper lookout throughout maneuver with an eye on the MOB. Does not give appropriate and timely orders to passengers (if present) in the process of retrieving MOB.
