International students who don’t hold a valid State of Qatar residence permit (excluding GCC citizens) must apply for a student visa and can do this online at qatarevisaonline.com with turnaround typically taking just 72 hours. Documents required include a letter of confirmation from the respective college, passport (valid for six months after completion of studies), financial documents proving ability to pay student fees and a health check report (blood test, chest X-ray, HIV test).

Tuition fees vary. Expect to pay around QR71,170 per semester with two semesters per year. Others charge per credit hour with a Master’s programme requiring 30-35 credits and each credit costing around QR1,250. Medical degrees and MBAs are more expensive, typically costing around QR219,500. Accommodation can be expensive, with student housing fees per semester ranging from QR9,440 to QR12,140. Petrol is cheap; food is often imported so it can be a bit more costly.
