Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art Since its foundation in 2010, Mathaf, sited at Education City, has been dedicated to collecting and showcasing the work of Arab artists. The facility hosts and commissions major exhibitions while its permanent collection, spanning more than 9,000 works, constitutes the world’s largest collection of its kind. Students will appreciate the free shuttle bus service and educational programmes; there are also regular student exhibitions and competitions.

Factor in the 24/7 online resources and digital assets such as the Qatar Digital Library, and you’ve discovered an unparalleled, multi-faceted learning facility. It’s also beautiful, with tiers of marble bookcases set within a single, light open-plan space, which is designed so visitors can see all the books in a panorama.
Al Zubarah One glance at the impressive walls of this UNESCO World Heritage Site, just over 50 miles from Doha, tells of its former wealth and importance. Long since abandoned, the remains of this once grand 18th- and 19th-century Gulf merchant town constitute Qatar’s largest heritage site, whose story is chronicled at the visitor centre in the 1938 fort.
