STUDY IN QATAR

Why should you choose Qatar?

Hend Zainal, executive director, strategy, management and partnerships at Qatar Foundation, on why Qatar is an excellent place to study

What makes Qatar a place students should want to come to?

Qatar is one of the safest countries in the world, with a diverse economy and society, which makes studying here a unique experience. Education City — the home of Qatar Foundation — is an environment of learning like no other, and the most comprehensive education hub in the world. It brings together seven international partner universities and QF’s homegrown Hamad Bin Khalifa University, alongside schools, research entities, incubators for innovation and entrepreneurship and opportunities for involvement in community activities and programs.

Students at QF can cross-register at other universities at Education City, explore their passions by taking joint courses and benefi t from joint certifi cates and minors.

How would you describe the educational landscape at QF? It’s an innovative and integrated ecosystem with multiple, diverse pathways for knowledge available within yards of each other. This empowers young people to learn beyond the lecture hall and the laboratory, enabling cross-cultural connections to be made and for ideas, perspectives, experiences, and stories to be shared.

To what extent do students at QF have the opportunity for experiential, real-world learning? Our model encourages and enables integration

“Whichever fi eld they choose, our goal is unlocking human potential. We equip

students not only for the jobs of today, but

for those of tomorrow” HEND ZAINAL

and collaboration between our schools and universities, our national research institutes, our technology hubs, our policy centres and our non-education programs, allowing students to curate their own learning journey. This might mean gaining hands-on research experience alongside world-class scientists, incubating a university startup within our science and technology park, or working alongside policy experts and community leaders. The beauty of our ecosystem is in the sheer scale of opportunity it off ers, the interests and horizons it caters for and the experiences it presents.

What are the key fi elds QF seeks to equip students to enter aſt er they graduate? Our universities nurture everyone from engineers, doctors and artists to journalists, computer scientists, diplomats and entrepreneurs. But whichever fi eld they choose, our goal is unlocking human potential. We aim to equip students not only for the jobs of today, but also for those of tomorrow.

The future of work will see major changes in the labour market, and our vision for higher education addresses this, through focusing on developing students’ skills in line with the ever-evolving needs of the market and establishing channels of communication with business and industry. We look to cultivate skills that make young people particularly employable — leadership, communication, creativity, interpersonal skills, and civic values — so they’re fully prepared for whichever career path they choose.
