Glacier Express SWITZERLAND
The Glacier Express is one of the most unique and luxurious ways to explore the glory of the Swiss Alps. With the help of rack-and-pinion technolog, the train climbs to the highest point of the route on the Oberalp Pass, 6,706ft above sea level. From Zermatt and the Matterhorn, the trip leads through the Swiss Alps to St Moritz in the Engadine Lakeland. It winds its way past idyllic mountain villages and rugged rock faces, offering an unrestricted view of the deep gorges, remote valleys, glaciers and the Rhine Gorge, also known as the ‘Swiss Grand Canyon’. starts as soon as guests step onto the platform. Here they’re greeted at the welcome desk in front of the Glacier Express by the concierge, who takes care of check-in and all their luggage. Along the way, the crew serves a regional
five-course meal, including wine. Appetisers and champagne taste twice as good looking out towards the Piz Bernina or the Matterhorn. For a welcoming drink or an aperitif, try the Glacier Bar, which offers the best view. Later in the day, an afternoon tea of delicious cakes is served.
