Lake Chahafi Resort KISORO, UGANDA
Southwestern Uganda is home to two of Uganda’s top attractions: Bwindi and Mgahinga, the only remaining habitats of mountain gorillas, where more than half of the world’s mountain gorillas roam. Alternatively, at a fraction of the cost of gorilla permits, guests can track the endemic golden monkeys, found only in Mgahinga and the Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda. For the more adventurous, Mgahinga Gorilla National Park offers day hikes to the volcanic mountains: Mount Muhabura, Mount Gahinga and Mount Sabyinyo. The park’s also home to Albertine endemic bird species, providing excellent birdwatching opportunities along the Sabyinyo Gorge trail. Lake Chahafi Resort is an hour’s drive to
Mgahinga and one hour and 30 minutes to Bwindi. This exclusive and luxurious boutique facility offers guests the chance to stay and explore the destination, unwind in standalone ecologically built tented cabins and mountain view cottages, and enjoy activities such as carp fishing, birdwatching and canoe rides on the lake. Lake Chahafi has a twin lake to the left called Kayumbu,
both surrounded by farmlands and offering amazing views of the surroundings. Guests will enjoy table d’hôte menus available
each day of their stay, with multiple courses of gourmet dishes, providing a superb fine dining experience by a roaring fire. The chef makes both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes and pays attention to any dietary requests. Guests can also enjoy carefully selected wines, custom-made cocktails, mojitos, coffees and iced teas prepared by a professional resident mixologist and barista. Guests interested in hidden gems will find the
resort a perfect fit, offering a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of Kisoro town. Nearby, there is a local school where guests can visit and interact with children and teachers through dance and drama, supporting the school in various ways. Guests need at least two nights to combine
activities in the national parks with relaxation at the resort. The destination requires an early start, with a briefing at 8am at the park headquarters, and is mostly explored through hiking in the forests and nature walks in the villages.
DON’T MISS Enjoy an outdoor dinner on the last night of your stay, with an energetic local cultural performance and outdoor campfire
