Tanganyika Expeditions TANZANIA

This East African nation on the Indian Ocean is a unique destination: a land of wide-open spaces and charismatic wildlife; a place for true adventure. Tanzania is home to some of the most beautiful wildlife parks in the world, including Serengeti National Park, world-famous for being the scene of the great annual wildebeest and zebra migration. Africa’s highest peak, Kilimanjaro, reaches an

altitude of 19,340ft (5,895m), making it a trekker’s dream. Behind this giant, there are other treks for experienced walkers and beginners alike. Finally, Tanzania is also famous for its coastline and its magnificent islands, most notably Zanzibar. This pearl of the Indian Ocean offers white-sand beaches, palm trees and turquoise seas. Visiting Tanzania also means a chance to meet welcoming, helpful and friendly people. Established in 1989, Tanganyika Expeditions

has all the know-how and experience in the field make it one of the leaders in field organisation and logistics. Since the first camp at Olduvai opened some 30 years ago, Tanganyika has developed a portfolio of 14 lodges and camps, mainly in

the north of the country. The sites of all these establishments are particularly well chosen, such as Mara River Post on the banks of the Mara River, or the camps of Maweninga and Ormatai Rock, both in the heart of Tarangire National Park. This year, Tanganyika will open a new lodge in

Saadani National Park. The chosen site is Madete, by the sea, between the national park — full of lions, elephants and giraffes — and the marine park with its whales, dolphins and, above all, hawksbill turtles that come to lay their eggs on the beach. For over 25 years, Tanganyika has set itself

apart by implementing environmentally friendly technical solutions. All the lodges are equipped with solar panels, which supply all the energy needed to run the units; plastic use has been eliminated. The company has also developed organic vegetable gardens and a tree nursery that replants 30,000 trees every year. Since 2017, it has also been developing 100% electric, 100% solar- powered 4WD vehicles (retrofitted). Tanganyika now operates 17 of these, and offers its customers 100% carbon-free safaris day or night.
