Deep-sea fishing buffs will be in their element as they go in search of sailfish, dorado and marlin in nearby waters, while the resort’s onsite PADI dive school partner, Diani Marine, caters for learners and advanced divers alike. Snorkelling trips to Kisite Marine Park offer the chance to spot dolphins and colourful coral. Elsewhere, travellers can hop aboard a
traditional dhow boat to explore the local area — a sunset excursion is a must — or, for active types, there’s tennis, golf and beach volleyball. Shimba Hill National Reserve, just 20 minutes
away, is home to Keny a’s only herd of sable antelopes, as well as elephants, buffalo, giraffes and impalas. There’s also the option to hike through Sheldrick Falls, before retreating to Diani Sea Resort for a sundowner. The hotel has its own wild attractions: vervet, Sykes’ and colobus monkeys scamper about. But beware, they’ve been known to pinch coconuts from inattentive guests.
