Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge KASKI, NEPAL
Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge champions regenerative tourism in Nepal. Located in central Nepal 40 minutes from the centre of Pokhara and set in seven acres of natural gardens and woodland, the lodge is privately owned and independent. It’s been setting the standards for tourism with a conscience for 25 years. A haven for guests in the central Himalayas,
the lodge offers views of a magnificent mountain panorama of three 26,000ft peaks — Dhaulagiri, Annapurna and Manaslu — as well as the iconic and sacred Machhapuchhare (Fishtail) peak that dominates the Pokhara Valley. Tiger Mountain strives to give every guest a special experience of Nepal’s middle hills though skilled local guides, authentic Nepalese food and the rhythms of life in the shadow of the Himalaya. With just 16 rooms in stone bungalows built in
local style, it’s the ideal base for guests who want a rural locale, yet with access to Pokhara for its lakeside attractions and adventure sports. Each room has en-suite facilities with locally crafted biodegradable toiletries and a private verandah.
Guests can enjoy leisurely walks through the
terraced hillsides, forests and local villages with a picnic lunch, all led by the lodge’s expert local guides who all come from the community. The diverse walks are readily available for anyone who enjoys hiking but does not wish to trek in the classical Himalayan manner. The walks focus on flora and fauna, culture or just plain exercise. A range of yoga, meditation and massage
therapies are available. Alternatively, guests can fly up to Lo Manthang and explore this ancient fortified town north of Annapurna. To relax, there’s even a secluded swimming pool. Chef Lalu’s award-winning kitchen provides
home-style cookery, with authentic Nepali dishes or Western cuisine, and happily caters to guests with special dietary needs. The lodge was completely redecorated in 2023 in
celebration of its 25th anniversary. With a strong Community Support Partnership Programme, the lodge works closely to support the adjacent village’s development vision and the lodge has been audited for its sustainability efforts by Travelife.
