Cassia Cottage PHU QUOC, VIETNAM

Once the private home of a family of spice traders and plantation owners, Cassia Cottage has evolved into a relaxed boutique resort set among tropical gardens and coconut palms overlooking the Gulf of Thailand. Though it now comprises 60 rooms and houses, the spirit of the original home remains, shaped by warmth and simplicity. Luxury here is understated and rooted in feeling

rather than display. Rooms are built from stone and wood, with high ceilings, open-air showers and four-poster beds designed to invite sea breezes and natural light. There are no televisions or background music, only the sound of waves, birds and daily island life. The scent of cassia bark lingers — its oil is used throughout the property as a natural cleanser and a subtle reminder of Cassia Cottage’s heritage. Accommodation ranges from Sea View Rooms

opening onto palm-lined lawns to spacious Plantation and Beach Houses that once formed part of the family estate. Throughout the gardens, hammocks, shaded corners and quiet pools create space to slow down and reconnect. The atmosphere

attracts returning guests year after year, drawn by a sense of calm that feels increasingly rare. Food is central to the Cassia experience.

At The Spice House, the beachfront restaurant, dishes are prepared from scratch using fresh, carefully sourced ingredients, with no artificial additives. Vietnamese flavours are paired with light Mediterranean influences, alongside Indian- inspired vegetarian dishes prepared by a dedicated chef. Seasonal fruits, herbs from the garden and coconuts harvested on site shape menus that feel nourishing and honest. Cooking classes offer a hands-on way to explore the culinary traditions of Vietnam’s largest island, Phu Quoc. Wellness is woven naturally into daily life.

The open-air Summer Spa offers tailored treatments using in-house blended oils and garden herbs, while yoga and breathwork sessions take place in a garden shala. Beyond the resort, Phu Quoc’s beaches, reefs, pepper plantations and forest trails invite exploration. Cassia Cottage offers a place to slow down, breathe and enjoy the rhythms of island life.

DON’T MISS Join the chefs in gathering fresh herbs and tropical fruits from the gardens, then learn to transform them into Vietnamese dishes
