Events & International Women’s Day Te Good Life 9

From Emery to Arroyo Aston Villa strengthens its Spanish coaching legacy with a new women’s head coach A

ston Villa recently strength- ened its continued commit- ment towards the women’s

programme with the appointment of Spanish head coach, Natalia Arroyo. Te 38-year-old, who previously

managed Real Sociedad, became the first Spaniard to take charge of Aston Villa Women and has already enthused fans by overseeing a pair of exciting performances. Her side went toe-to-toe with

Barclays WSL leaders Chelsea, even- tually succumbing to a narrow 1-0 defeat at Villa Park, before securing

their place in the quarter-finals of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup with an enter- taining 3-2 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion. And with a playing squad full of

world-renowned stars, spearheaded by Rachel Daly, Villa’s new boss is only looking up. Upon her arrival at the football

club last month, Arroyo said: “It’s a historic club. “It’s a club that has a great project.

It has a good present, but a good vision for a better future, and I feel confident to be the coach that helps this team

grow. I can help to make the club take the next step. “I like the squad, and I like the club.

I’m ready to help.” Te 2024/25 season marks the

first time Villa Park has staged each and every home league fixture for the women’s team, and the club is immensely proud — especially on International Women’s Day — to show- case this as another step towards its long-term consolidation as one of the elite forces in the top flight With affordable ticket prices and an

outstanding matchday experience to boot, there really is no better time to be a Villan.
