cookery school in John Lewis, on bustling Oxford Street. And according to Jamie, it’s arriving at just the right time, as a nation of food-lovers drifts further from the kitchen. “Tese days, we’ve got access to

25- to 34-year-olds cook from scratch regularly, but there’s little change for the 45 to 54 age group, who report- edly make homemade meals just once a week. It’s a curious paradox: Britain


is a nation obsessed with food, yet cooking from scratch is in decline. And while the benefits of doing so, including saving money, better nutri- tion and reduced food waste, are well known, the question remains: how do we bring people back to the utter joy of home cooking?
