WORKPLACE
C
ollaborative workspaces are a hot trend right now, popular among the corporate set who are looking for different faces
and spaces for inspiration – but also an essential service for entrepreneurs and small businesses who’ve outgrown their garage or kitchen counter, but aren’t yet ready to commit to formal office rental and all the admin and responsibility which come with that. Coffee shops that welcome mobile
workers in exchange for regular orders off the menu are a good start, but there’s much to be said for more formal collaborative spaces that offer membership or rental arrangements which meet the diverse needs of up- and-coming businesses.
Apart from having the formal
structure of “going to the office” each day, rather than your rush-hour traffic consisting of tripping over the cat on your journey from your bedroom to your home office, belonging to a collaborative environment offers a myriad of other benefits too. There’s a certain gravitas that comes
with having a business address and formal meeting room facilities, and there’s a lot to be gained from sharing trials and tribulations – as well as the contact details of a good bookkeeper – with others at a similar business life stage to yours.
