TOYOTA CONNECT
“The first Toyota I bought was one I got for R2 300 back in the 1970s,” says Tim. “I’ve had many Toyotas – well over 30, from bakkies to sedans, including those used in my various companies.” He’s been in the trucking business
for more than 40 years, establishing the TLD Group – abnormal load and project specialists operating throughout the SADC countries – in 1981. He also started the Interlogix Group, which handles the customs clearing, fording
and logistics side of the project industry throughout the SADC. “My safari, camping and towing
vehicle is a 2008 VX 200 series and it’s my fifth Land Cruiser,” says Tim. “I’m 69 and my 43-year-old son has been driving Toyotas all his life, too. He drove a Hilux when he was younger, then a Prado and he’s now on his second 200 series VX Land Cruiser. My 36-year-old daughter drives a
Toyota Auris and my wife drives a 2008 Lexus RX 350 XE. We’re a Toyota family through and through.” These days Tim spends his time
conducting specialised route surveys in and around sub-Saharan Africa for loyal clients. He’s a qualified Field and Trails
Guide, as well as a recognised wildlife, nature and action sports photographer.
