Industrial & Marine Gas Turbines The IEA reports that 2021 electrical power demands were up 5% from 2020, with global gas-fired power set to expand by close to the same rate by the end of 2022. This will result in an estimated total of 80GW in new capacity. The Asia Pacific region, North America and the Middle East will account together for almost 80% of the capacity additions.
China is expected to add almost
20 GW of gas-fired power generation capacity by 2022. This combined with the 12 GW being installed in other Asia Pacific countries accounts for 40% of the planned gas-fired capacity additions. Over 20 GW of gas-fired power additions are scheduled for North America over the same period. The US is slated to install 17 GW, while Mexico and Canada are scheduled to add 2.4 GW and 900 MW, respectively. The Middle East will be installing 18 GW. In other regions, namely Africa, South America, Europe and Eurasia, capacity additions are expected to total about 10 GW.
In 2021, 618 Civil Industrial &
Marine Gas Turbines were delivered, representing a 9.6% increase over the 564 turbines delivered in 2020. The outlook for 2022 supports a 7% increase or a total of 662 turbine deliveries. The 5-year CAGR (2020-2024) for the Civil subsector is forecast to be 6.5%.
