This, however, does not translate

directly to 2021 investment casting sales growth, as many of the aircraft delivered last year were produced in 2020 or earlier. The 737 MAX accounts for a majority of these, with approximately 450 aircraft in Boeing inventory at the end of 2020. This inventory will be depleted by 3rd quarter 2022.

As a result, 2021 delivery of Then-

Year-Production (TYP) narrow body aircraft reflects a 3% increase over 2020 actuals. The outlook for 2022 TYP for this class of airframe reflects an additional 48% growth, the effect of Boeing returning to deliveries from current year production and increased demand.

Global air carriers accepted

delivery of 208 wide body airframes in 2021, representing a 5% increase over 2020. Of these, Boeing delivered 123 airframes and Airbus delivered 85. The outlook for 2022 wide body airframe deliveries shows further growth at a rate of 10%.

Looking at TYP deliveries in total,

2021 realized a 3.8% increase over 2020 levels, achieveng a total of 729 arframes manufactured in 2021. Next year, it is expected that all large commercial airframe production will hit the 1000 unit level. The 5-year CAGR (2020 – 2024) for these airframes is estimated to be 16%. Over this period, narrow body production is expected to outpace wide body production by a rate of 4:1.

The vast majority of the airframes in

current production have two engines, with only 4 models among the 19 wide bodies in production requiring four. As a result, the growth rate for engines differs from that of airframes. Engine production in 2021 grew by 4.1 and as recovery continues, the 5-year CAGR (2020-2024) is expected to be 26%.
