on projects that were challenging, impactful for the company and reflective of the skills I have learned at university thus far. My primary project was creating a sophisticated job costing model to assist the sales team in developing more accurate costing methods. To create the model, I entered closed job data from the past year and a half, approximately 450 jobs, on 32 different factors, including part dimensions, print time and materials costs. Additionally, l utilized Materialise Magics software to explore the individual parts from the different jobs. By entering so much data and using Magics, I gained a better understanding of the software itself and how the parts look on the software, which will be very useful to use similar software in the future. l was able to use skills from the university courses that I have taken, such as statistics and data analysis to create this comprehensive database and find insights that pointed to cost drivers and trends that would

aid in costing jobs more accurately. This project was rewarding in the sense that it was actually used by the sales team to quote jobs and also that it taught me to truly dig into the data, to be flexible and ask a lot of questions.

In addition to making the costing model, I created marketing materials that unified our brand image. This included line cards, a standard company presentation template, business cards, and notepads. This was an exciting assignment for me, being a marketing major and photography minor. I was able to shoot photographs of Eagle products and design a line card that displayed the photos and information on the products and services offered by Eagle to the Investment Casting Industry. In addition, I created a standard presentation template to be used across the company. This project provided me with great design experience, as I went through multiple iteration stages: designing, then reviewing with the team, redesigning, then finalizing designs. For the notepads and business cards, I worked with a local print shop to come up with a new design for large notepad for use in our offices, as well as sharing with customers, and a new design for business cards, which mirrored the design of the standard presentation template.

l will be preparing to find a full-time job after graduation. Through my time at Miami University and my internships, I have found a great interest in business/ marketing and design, so it is my objective to work in marketing, whether that is an agency or for an individual company and be able to do both technical and creative work.

This internship has given me

excellent practice in data analysis, experience in creating a unified brand image across multiple channels, and experience in working with an internal team along with external vendors, which allowed me to improve my communication skills. I truly enjoyed that I got to do both technical and creative work during my internship. I continue to learn more about 3D printing and the Investment Casting industry, as well as business in general.
