Victory Cruise Lines secures berth at Chicago’s Navy Pier


Victory Cruise Lines has secured a berth at Chicago’s Navy Pier for its voyages on the US Great Lakes. Its two ships,


Victory I and Victory II, previously had to dock at a working port an hour’s drive


from the city. The line was acquired by American Queen Steamboat Company in January, and offers nine and 11-day cruises, which are sold in the UK through Light Blue Travel.

Travelmarvel gears up for three new ships


Pub grub will be on the menu at McGeary’s Bar when Travelmarvel, part of the APT Travel Group, launches the ਭUVW RI WKUHH ULYHU VKLSV Travelmarvel Polaris, in April. It will be followed by Travelmarvel Vega and Travelmarvel Capella in 2021. Each will hold up to bSDVVHQJHUV DQG IHDWXUH D URR़RS garden, plus three dining venues.


AmaWaterways’ double-width ship AmaMagna will venture into Eastern Europe next year. The ship will sail three one-week Gems of Southeast Europe cruises between Budapest in Hungary and Giurgiu in Romania, transiting the Iron Gates Gorge and including trips to forts and cathedrals in Croatia, Serbia and Bulgaria. The itineraries can be combined with pre and post-cruise stays in Vienna and Bucharest, or new seven-night Magna on the Danube sailings between Vilshofen and Budapest. The line is also exploring more of the Moselle on new seven-night Vineyards of the Rhine and Moselle cruises between Amsterdam and Luxembourg on AmaSiena, which launches in July.


A trip to an oyster farm and wine tasting in Châteauneuf du Pape await on two new European Waterways barge cruises in Provence. The six-night holidays, onboard Hotel Barge Anjodi, depart July 5 and October 25, 2020.

Saga adds November cruise on Douro for solo travellers


Saga is offering free drinks and tours on a new one-week Douro Discovery voyage in Portugal for solo travellers. The round-trip sailing, which departs from Porto on November 18 onboard Douro Queen, will be accompanied by a dedicated solos host and will include free port tasting in Porto, sightseeing in Salamanca, Spain, and dinner at a quinta (country estate). There will be no single supplements on the voyage.
