A-ROSA FLORA A-Rosa
The lowdown
Launched in 2014, A-Rosa Flora is one of seven international A-Rosa ships, so documents and announcements on sailings are in German and English. It is based on the Rhine and holds 183 passengers.
The facts f International ships have English-speaking hosts to support the cruise manager.
f Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served buffet-style, but there’s an option a couple of times per cruise to join a waiter-served dinner. It’s a set menu and costs about €40 per person.
f Premium packages include all drinks, except for top-branded ones, free Wi-Fi, discounts on spa treatments and speciality dining, and free cruises for children up to the age of 15.
f Cabins have a mix of fixed windows and Juliet balconies. There are two family cabins with two extra beds, seven junior suites, and four suites with walk-out balconies.
AMAKRISTINA AmaWaterways
The lowdown
Named in honour of the river cruise line’s co-founder and vice-president Kristin Karst, AmaKristina launched in 2017. It can accommodate 156 passengers and sails one-week Rhine cruises between Amsterdam and Basel.
The facts f A gym, a heated sun deck pool, free daily fitness classes and cycling and hiking excursions – there’s no excuse for not staying in shape on this ship. And just in case passengers overdo it, there’s a masseur onboard to soothe aching muscles.
f Once per cruise, passengers will be treated to a Chaîne des Rötisseurs dinner in the main restaurant and a five-course tasting menu in the intimate Chef’s Table at the back of the ship. There’s no extra charge for either.
f Breakfast and lunch are buffets, while dinners are served. Light tapas tasters are available in the lounge.
f Most cabins have two balconies with seating areas inside and out. For families, there are 12 rooms that can accommodate a third person, as well as three pairs of interconnecting cabins.
