To visit the Western Cape in South Africa is to love it

Tours are led by former inmates, and are humbling and fascinating in equal measure. To continue your history lesson, head to the District Six Museum. Housed in a former Methodist Church, it’s a celebration of the area that was destroyed during apartheid, and incredibly moving. And of course, you can’t miss Table Mountain. It’s part of the fabric of the city. The views from the 500 million-year-old monolith simply can’t be bettered.
