Hot-air ballooning at sunrise
Exhilaration – or relief – after the giant swing
AlUla Old Town overlooking the oasis
Jessica Harris, Elegant Resorts and If Only
“For me, one of the best moments of the trip was the hot-air balloon ride over Hegra and
seeing all the sights we had visited in the past week from above. It was an amazing end to the trip.”

THRILL-SEEKERS
As well as discovering AlUla’s rich history and natural beauty, agents were offered the chance to test their courage at the Adventure Hub with a range of adrenaline-inducing activities. The giant swing was not one for the faint-hearted. Those who opted to take on the challenge had to scale rock surfaces and climb steep ladders, before steeling themselves to swing through a canyon 85 metres above the ground. It’s a likely bet their screams could be heard for miles around. Others in the group chose to soar over the desert on a zipline, while the rest were more than happy to be supportive spectators!
Which type of clients would you recommend AlUla to? I’d recommend it to clients who have been to destinations such as Jordan and Egypt before, are interested in history and familiar with the customs so they are more comfortable. It’s for people who want to push themselves out of their comfort zone.
What were your highlights of the fam trip? One of the most memorable highlights of the trip was exploring the Heritage Oasis in the Old Town and listening to the stories of the rawis (local storytellers) to hear about the history of the sites.
How did the fam trip change your perceptions about AlUla? I had a perception that it would be quite restricted, but AlUla is a destination that is almost in a bubble and is so traveller friendly. There is such a difference between what I’ve heard and people’s misconceptions and the reality is nothing like this.
