Keeping it in the family


A son-and-mother duo have launched an agency focusing on the luxury cruise market. Winchester-based Daniel Thomas and his mother


Fiona have set up Fraser Campbell Travel, in partnership with The Travel Network Group and Travel Trust Association, having been on more than 170 cruises between them as passengers. Daniel describes himself as “a self-confessed cruise


nerd”, who used to visit the port in Southampton to admire the ships and the operations on turnover days. He has also held operational roles in the cruise


sector at P&O Cruises, Cunard, Azamara Cruises, Royal Caribbean Group, Celebrity Cruises and, most recently, The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection. He added: “My mum and I talk about cruises a lot and I think we bore people to tears with it all the time. It’s great to combine the two perspectives: one of her as a guest, and then me as the operational person.” To enable a personalised approach, Daniel has spent “a long time” developing a comprehensive CRM system and business model so that the agency can spend as much time as it needs to get to know guests on a one-to-one basis. The “number one goal” for the business is a net promoter score (NPS) of 100, he added.

Sports and luxury agency seeks four homeworkers


Sports tours and luxury holidays specialist Black Opal Travel Group is expanding by recruiting up to four homeworkers. The Cheshire-based agency said the agents could be


based anywhere in the UK or be near to the group’s retail lounge in Hale – or even work from the office if required. Black Opal can offer homeworkers training and


marketing support, alongside the opportunity to sell luxury holidays and its “highly successful” sports tours. The group is also looking to move to larger premises to enable further expansion locally.


Managing


director Jamie Smith said: “Recruitment of homeworkers was always in the strategy as our next step in the growth plan, and with the positive bounce-back of clients using agents again, this is a perfect time for us to take the next step.” He said sales for the retail travel lounge were 35% ahead
