THE JOY OF JUNKANOO
If your clients are keen to escape for sunnier climes this winter, December is the best time to visit. As well as guaranteed sunshine, they’ll also witness the spectacle of Nassau & Paradise Island’s Junkanoo Festival, which takes place on Boxing Day every year. A celebration of Bahamian unity that was originally established by enslaved Africans, Junkanoo brings together thousands of people in a blur of exuberant costumes, vibrant music and flamboyant processions. The largest celebration takes place on Bay Street in downtown Nassau, but thousands of Bahamians across the archipelago mark the occasion by descending en masse to enjoy this joyful, carnival-style party.
