This striking landmark was built in 1864 by the Dartmouth Har- bour Commissioners. Standing at 80ft tall it was designed to help guide mariners safely into the harbour from miles out to sea. It is possible to stroll to the impos- ing structure from Brownstone National Trust car park, King- swear or the more adventurous can walk all the way from Dart- mouth via the ferry to Kingswear and along the coast path.
