Dartmouth Regatta: 20th
-27th August
Dartmouth’s Royal Regatta is the biggest of the town’s many events and has been running for over 175 years. Locals and visitors alike come to enjoy the sailing, fireworks, Flyboarding displays, crabbing and fancy dress competitions and the local rowing crews train all year for the all important boat races. There’s a great buzz during the week with music in the Royal Avenue Gardens and a street market taking over much of the town’s embankment. The organisers are proud that HM Royal Marine Band always perform at the official Opening Ceremony, which will take place on Wednesday 24th August and that they receive such tremendous support from Britannia Royal Naval College and her cadets. The whole event is steeped in history since Queen Victoria bestowed the Royal title upon it after a visit to Dartmouth and in this special Jubilee year the celebrations are sure to be memorable. Following the success of the 2021 Mayflower River Parade, this year sees the River Parade return, the Jubilee River Parade invites participants to celebrate with another fantastic gathering on the River Dart. There’s something for the whole family with many activities and competitions to get involved in including the legendary Kontiki Raft Race and the unique and beloved Spot the Oddity competition. You will see lots of children spending hours looking in shop windows to ‘spot the oddity’. Whether it’s finding a tin of baked beans in an art gallery or spotting a carefully hidden wooden spoon on display in a clothes shop - this game is somehow deeply satisfying
whatever your age! New for 2022 is the expansion of the Family fun day into the Family Fun weekend on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st August. The weekend will be focused on more of the great family activities that have proved so popular in past years, culminating in Dartmouth’s first FIRE WALK on the Sunday evening. After the sunset awards ceremony on the Saturday night, everything culminates in a dramatic fireworks display. The Platinum Jubilee, 177th, Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta 2022 will be a Regatta year not to be missed! For more information, visit
