10 Things to do with Children 1

Crabbing Grab some bacon and a bucket, find a prime spot on the beautiful embankment and dangle a line into the water. Crabbing is very straightforward, but strangely addictive and some families have been honing their techniques and handing them down the generations for many decades. It’s a big hit with children - some enjoy the thrill of handling these fascinating crustaceans, others prefer to stand at arm’s length from those pesky pincers! Buckets and lines are available from many of the shops in Dartmouth and from the

Dartmouth Visitor Centre.

will be entertained for hours by their wonderful array of marble runs, animated animals, fairground mirrors, penny press and their giant floating marble. RNLI Visitor Centre The Dartmouth RNLI Visitor Centre (on the

South Embankment near Rockfish) might not look like a place for children from the outside, but inside there’s a full-size inflatable lifeboat to play on and a dressing-up wardrobe with RNLI kit to try on. There’s also some inspiring footage of real-life rescues and a photo screen allowing visitors to put themselves into an emergency scene.

Paignton Zoo Paignton Zoo is a must with over 200 animals,

6 animal habitats and its own Jungle Express train. With conservation at its heart there is no better place to visit with the animal lovers in the family. Book your tickets at Paigntonzoo. org or see advert page 45
