Ride on the Steam Train Young ones will be captivated by the sounds and smells of the
Dartmouth Steam Railway. Historic engines pull carriages along seven miles of track from Kingswear to Paignton most days throughout the year. For a truly transport-tastic day - extend the journey to the full ‘Round Robin’ (which also includes a boat trip and an open-top bus ride). In the winter, presents are handed out on Santa Special Trains and the famous Train of Lights takes to the rails at night. See page 40
Plymouth Aquarium A little further afield - an intriguing collection of ocean creatures can be
found at the National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth. This is the UK’s largest aquarium and will keep little ones occupied for hours with its octopuses, clown fish and sand tiger sharks. Look out for ‘Friday’ the gentle giant turtle who weighs in at 120kgs (that’s the same as four labradors!)
