Group II base oil migration in hydraulic oil formulations Pages 6 to 7
Base fluid selection is critical for modern hydraulic systems With >60% of industrial oils being hydraulic - and of those 98% can be formulated with Group II base stocks - development is progressing on the basis of better filterability, air release and oxidative stability over that of Group I. Simon Matthews of Morris Lubricants highlights the general trend in oxidative performance.

4 LUBE MAGAZINE NO.127 JUNE 2015
Expect the unexpected
Following on from my Editorial in the April 2015 edition of LUBE, here in the UK we have a new Government. Past governments have been formed by one of the two main parties, the Conservatives or Labour. The last government was a coalition with the Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats. On 7 May 2015 the Conservatives won with a majority of 12. No opinion polls had predicted this, their forecasts had been for another coalition government. This was an unexpected outcome. Perhaps we should expect the unexpected.
When you read through some of the articles in this edition of LUBE, you will find an unexpected theme running through. I certainly was not expecting this. Guidance.
The EU Ecolabel article on page 20, gives an overall view of the voluntary scheme which is in place to help make sure that Member States apply EU environmental law correctly. Helping them comply with the legislation they have agreed, and following up on complaints from citizens and non-governmental organisations.
To ensure that the correct ACEA performance claims are made, ATIEL has released information for engine lubricant marketers. When ACEA releases a new version of its Oil Sequences, a new year number is assigned to it. Further information can be found on page 22.
The EuropaLub item on pages 36 and 37 highlights that by using the Market Summary and ELISSE, insight will be gained from the European Market Statistics, to help guide the user to better decision making.
The UEIL News found on page 40 is packed full of important information to help UEIL members, for example: new emission standards for L type vehicles (motor vehicles with less than four wheels, i.e. motorcycles); the Tyre Project has developed new compounds, designs and treads; and more.
We here in the UK will have to wait and see what the next five years bring. Two things we can be sure to expect, they are death and taxes.
