The 48th GOMA Lubricants and Base Oils Symposium
After half a century of continual working on the promotion of expertise in the field of manufacturing and application of fuel and lubricants, GOMA is proud to announce the 48th GOMA Lubricants and Base Oils Symposium. The event will be held in Rovinj, Croatia, from 14 to 16 October. This Symposium is the biennial event primarily focused on issues affecting the lubricants industry, which also includes issues related to the development of base stocks and additives. This year’s event will be organised in partnership with the European Lubricating Grease Institute - ELGI.
GOMA is the Croatian Society for Fuels and Lubricants. It has worked continuously for 51 years as a not-for-profit and nongovernmental society. The main activities include organising symposia as well as publishing a bilingual, English and Croatian, printed edition of a professional- scientific journal issued quarterly, ‘FUELS and LUBRICANTS journal’.
Serious concerns over global warming and resource depletion definitely are shaping our world and influencing industrial and
technological development. Consequently, requests for environmental protection and energy economy are becoming the main drivers of the lubricants development. However, many organisations put their attention only on productivity and machine reliability, so thus environmental factors and energy savings are not on the list of priorities. The main purpose of this Symposium is to offer an answer on how to reach a compromise between these, often conflicting demands and properly formulate lubricants capable of performing effective wear control and lower energy costs. It should also bring attention to the significance of lubricants selection and lubrication practice as an effective way to achieve wear control and energy economy. All of these factors could be translated to considerable savings for many maintenance departments.
For the first time, workshops will be introduced in the Symposium programme as an effective way of transferring knowledge to participants. The participants are encouraged to take the opportunity to participate in these educational sessions to become more
familiar with the latest developments of high performance industrial lubricants and metalworking fluids.
The success of this event greatly relies on the enthusiastic and passionate work of the individuals but also on generous donations by the sponsors and exhibitors. Without their support it would not be possible to create a stimulating environment for the participants or their partners who get a chance to experience many social events as well as enjoy a relaxing ambience of the Adriatic coast. The main intention of the organiser is to offer to all participants an excellent place for discussion, discovering the latest industry developments and building professional networks for an affordable price.
