ExxonMobil Introduces Advanced

Industrial Gear Lubricants Fully-Synthetic, Mobil SHC Gear Lubricants Deliver Optimum Protection for Equipment Operating in Extreme Conditions

• Tests document energy efficiency benefits of up to 3.6 percent*

• Mobil SHC Gear lubricants offer extended oil drain intervals up to six times

• Mobil SHC Gear lubricants approved by Siemens for use in Flender gearboxes

Recently ExxonMobil Lubricants and Petroleum Specialties, a division of Exxon Mobil Corporation, announced the introduction of its new line-up of high- performance, fully-synthetic industrial gear oils, known as Mobil SHC Gear series. The new Mobil SHC Gear series has been formulated to help general manufacturing and processing industries increase productivity and reduce costs by lowering energy consumption and extending oil drain intervals.

The new Mobil SHC lubricants offer valuable energy efficiency benefits across a wide range of industrial gearbox applications. In statistically validated laboratory tests and field trials, Mobil SHC Gear fluids exhibited energy savings of up to 3.6 percent compared with conventional oils*. In addition, the Mobil SHC Gear series’ high oxidation resistance enables extended oil life up to six times compared to standard mineral gear and bearing lubricants, especially when operating at elevated operating temperatures. Backed by extensive research and testing, Mobil SHC Gear oils also demonstrate excellent water-handling properties, enhanced resistance to micropitting fatigue, improved seal compati- bility and outstanding shear stability.

“For many industrial businesses, gearboxes are a critical source of power transmission. That is why today, as gearbox technology continues to become more advanced, companies are increasingly seeking higher-performing synthetic lubricants, such as our new Mobil SHC Gear lubricants, to protect their gearbox investment,” said Mike Hawkins, Global Brand Manager, Mobil SHC, ExxonMobil Lubricants and Petroleum Specialties, a division of Exxon

Mobil Corporation. “By leveraging ExxonMobil’s exceptional application- specific expertise and close cooperation with leading original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), we were able to ensure that our new Mobil SHC Gear lubricants feature the most advanced Mobil SHC technology to help our customers reduce equipment downtime, minimise maintenance costs and maximise productivity.”

The latest addition to the Mobil SHC brand of high-performance synthetic lubricants, Mobil SHC Gear fluids are approved by Siemens for use in Flender gearboxes and meet or exceed nearly every other major industry and OEM specification for industrial gearbox applications. Today, Mobil SHC-branded synthetic lubricants are approved for use in more than 10,000 applications and have exclusive or preferential endorsements from leading OEMs for more than 2,200 applications, spanning a wide range of industries.

The new Mobil SHC Gear series further expands ExxonMobil’s comprehensive Mobil industrial lubricants offer developed to provide outstanding protection and performance while offering energy efficiency potential. For example, the hydraulic oil, Mobil DTE 10 Excel, also has the potential to achieve energy savings for general manufac- turing and processing companies. In controlled laboratory efficiency testing, Mobil DTE 10 Excel was measured to provide up to a six percent improvement in hydraulic pump efficiency compared to Mobil DTE 20 when operating in standard hydraulic applications**.

“While the primary function of a lubricant is to reduce unscheduled downtime and extend oil drain intervals, advanced lubrication technology now means companies can select fluids

which can provide outstanding levels of protection and performance as well as other benefits such as improved energy efficiency,” said Andrea Jacobsen, Industrial Lubricants Marketing Manager, Europe Africa Middle East zone, ExxonMobil Lubricants and Petroleum Specialties. “The Mobil SHC Gear series and Mobil DTE 10 Excel are two examples of how Mobil industrial lubricants can help companies achieve a competitive advantage in their operation.”

*Energy efficiency relates solely to the fluid performance when compared with conventional reference oils of the same viscosity grade in gear applications. The technology used allows up to 3.6 percent efficiency compared with the reference when tested in a worm gearbox under controlled conditions. Efficiency improvements will vary based on operating conditions and application.

**Energy Efficiency of Mobil DTE 10 Excel relates solely to the fluid performance when compared to ExxonMobil's standard hydraulic fluids. The technology used allows up to six percent increase in hydraulic pump efficiency compared to Mobil DTE 20 series when tested in standard hydraulic applications under controlled conditions. The energy efficiency claim for this product is based on test results on the use of the fluid conducted in accordance with all applicable industry standards and protocols.
