Lube Media STEM programme

Lube magazine, in partnership with The UK Lubricants Association (UKLA), has developed a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) programme to engage and inspire young people about career opportunities within the lubricants industry and its allied sectors. With the energy transition and sustainability at the forefront of industry challenges, the programme highlights the importance of innovation, scientific understanding, and engineering expertise in driving the sector forward.

This initiative is aimed at school and university students, offering educational resources, career talks, and outreach events designed to illustrate how lubricants contribute to modern technologies — from electric vehicles and wind turbines to advanced manufacturing and sustainable engineering. The programme also seeks to dismantle outdated perceptions of the industry by showcasing its role in environmental progress and technological innovation.

Through collaboration with schools, colleges, and STEM-focused organisations, the Lube Media STEM programme provides tailored support for educators and learners alike. Industry professionals and UKLA members participate as ambassadors and mentors, delivering insight into real-world applications of science and engineering within the lubricants sector. These engagements aim to foster curiosity, boost STEM literacy, and encourage students to pursue careers in science and technology fields.

Lube magazine supports the programme by amplifying its message across the sector and beyond, sharing success stories, student experiences, and industry developments related to STEM. Together, UKLA and Lube magazine are investing in the future talent pipeline — ensuring the lubricants industry remains innovative, skilled, and resilient in an increasingly complex and sustainable energy landscape.
