CyberSustainability in companies - cybersecurity as a Driver of corporate sustainability Secure infrastructures and processes are increasingly essential for achieving ESG goals.

Environmental: Efficient cybersecurity measures are not only crucial for protecting data, but also help to reduce the environmental footprint of energy- intensive data centres. Cybersecurity is also crucial for the security of supply chains and utilities in order to avoid costs and the use of resources.

Social: A cyberattack on critical infrastructure would have serious social repercussions. Companies are faced with the task of protecting personal data in order to avoid violations of informational self-determination. Cybersecurity is therefore also of social relevance, as it protects the foundations of privacy and individual self-determination.

Governance: Comprehensive cybersecurity is crucial for a company’s reputation, customer trust and shareholder value. Companies that prioritise cybersecurity not only contribute to the security of data and assets, but also create a more sustainable, ethical and transparent business environment.

In this respect, cybersecurity also acts as a driver of corporate sustainability.

The close link between cybersecurity and corporate sustainability should be anchored together as a key topic in corporate strategies, also of lubricant companies. Corporate sustainability and cybersecurity are two sides of the same coin, and this coin goes by the name of “CyberSustainability”.
