EVENTS Report on ALMU launch Peter Vickers, Vickers Oils
A long-held dream became a historic moment as the Asian Lubricant Manufacturers’ Union (ALMU) was launched in Macau on 6th March 2018.
Already representing lubricant companies from 12 Asian countries, with more applications for membership submitted, pending approval, ALMU intends to become both the single collective voice and also the trusted voice of the Asian lubricants industry. It will do so through bringing high quality influence to regulatory matters, demonstrating ethical behaviours, good governance and transparency, and offering “Trust, Influence and Value” to its members.
Introducing the impressive initial list of ALMU Council members, who will oversee the first two years of ALMU’s development, Ms. Vicky Villena-Denton, one the ALMU directors tasked with the governance
of the new body, commented, “With such strong leadership, I have no doubt ALMU will build a strong and collaborative Association that will represent the best interests of Asian manufacturers both locally and on the global stage.”
The occasion was supported by representatives of the Shanghai Lubricant Traders’ Association (SLTA), ILMA, UEIL and UKLA, which all offered their co-operation and experience to the new entity. Looking ahead, Ms. Vicky Villena-Denton, who has championed the cause of ALMU for many years, dared to express the logical next vision: a global co-operation between all the national and international lubricant Associations, to serve our customers and our industry across the world.
