Thursday 26 October Partner Day, Exploring Bologna and its culinary scene Exploring Bologna would not be complete without exploring its culinary scene – food lovers know that Bologna is renowned for having one of the richest culinary traditions in Italy.

Therefore, our programme will include a visit to one of Bologna’s food markets – Mercato di Mezzo in the heart of the food

district. Mercato di Mezzo is one of the most representative historical places of Bolognese food culture, a few steps from Piazza Maggiore: since the Middle Ages, this has been the place for flavors and meetings, commerce and gastronomical traditions of Bologna. And in order for your experience to be complete and tempt all the sense, you’ve prepared a surprise – a private cooking class!

In the afternoon you will have the chance to explore the city with its medieval squares and landmark churches and admire its untouched medieval center. Comfortable walking shoes are a must!

Saturday 28 October Tourism Day, Parma and Torrechiara Castle Only an hour away from Bologna is the city of Parma – famous for its Parmesan cheese and Parma ham, architecture, music and surrounding countryside. Your day visit will include a visit to a cheese factory where you will experience firsthand how magic happens!

Parma is located on the plain of the Po bordered by beautiful rolling hills and not far from the city, the countryside becomes very rural. A visit to the Torrechiara Castle in the afternoon will be a great opportunity to explore the countryside and see this impressive 15th century castle that sits on top of a low hill, about 250 feet high, with lovely views over fields and villages. The castle has four rectangular towers, connected by a double line of walls, and it’s one of the best preserved castles in Italy. The original structure has remained intact in part because the castle was not only designed as a fortification but also as a residence for a noble court.

After a day of learning about cheese, castle gazing and tower climbing, we will return you safely to Bologna for the weekend.

Participants for the Tourism Day meet in the Hotel Lobby at 09.00 am and will return to the Hotel at 18.30. Comfortable walking shoes are a must!
