Premium Italian appliance brand to make its UK debut

MILAN-BASED built-in appliance brand, Signature Kitchen Suite (SKS), is set to be launched in the UK, with Falmec UK announced as the exclusive distributor. SKS, which is owned by LG Electronics, was first introduced to select retailers in the European market in 2020, but will now be made available to the wider UK market for the first time. Falmec UK’s managing director Sean Drumm will be responsible for the brand in the UK market. He is said to have extensive knowledge of the SKS brand from his time as director of Showtime Essential Kitchen Products in Dublin. Signature Kitchen Suite is said to offer a curated collection of cooking, cooling and dishwashing appliances. According to the company, it also complements Falmec UK’s existing product portfolio of extraction and induction appliances, as well as its sinks and taps.
Within the UK market, SKS will be supported by the existing Falmec regional sales team, as well as its business development director, former Blanco UK MD Ron Blount. Drumm said he is extremely proud that Falmec has been selected to represent Signature Kitchen Suite in the UK. “It’s high time that a new and superior option entered the mix at the top of the market to offer designers a totally fresh and much more flexible built-in appliance collection for their clients”, Drumm said. “At SKS, we can offer a rewarding margin opportunity and, for a display investment, very favourable terms – with no minimum requirements – unlike our competitors.
“There are many other tangible benefits of our new partnership with this powerful premium brand, including valuable five-year parts and labour warranties, plus a 10-year guarantee on the motor.”
Lakes secures multimillion- pound funding for growth
Lakes Showering Spaces has received funding of £3.75 million from Praetura Commercial Finance, which it will spend on business growth. Lakes secured the funding to help meet rising customer demand, and combat fast-changing trends in the bathroom sector. The funding will reportedly help launch a new collection of walk-in showers, as well as help Lakes explore non-UK markets. Praetura is a commercial finance company that funds SMEs, with the majority of companies it supports based in the north of England. According to Lakes MD Mike Gahir, the funding from Praetura will help the company to continue the legacy of its founder, Robin Craddock. Gahir commented: “The key for us was preserving the legacy established by Robin, who sadly died seven years ago. Having an understanding and supportive funding partner in Praetura Commercial Finance will enable us to invest in the business he was so proud of.

The news follows the recent management buyout of Lakes by its board of directors, which took place in November.
