far from its original location (just opposite in fact) and sprawls over 250 square metres. The showroom has been designed to maximise the space, with the aim of creating as many individual bathroom bays as possible. Each has its own distinct feel, and has been individually wired and plumbed to make changes easy. The new showroom was once part of Scope Bathrooms’ warehouse, and the design was created and put together by the firm’s in-house design team, with the entire process being handled by general manager, Derek Miller. Unusually, the retailer hired a contractor from the hospitality sector, who was able to complete the ambitious project in just nine weeks. As you walk through the doors, you step into a broad hallway, adorned on either side with images of previous projects, including some of the many commercial hotel refits Scope Bathrooms has carried out. You’re then greeted by a friendly face behind the front desk to welcome you through. Highlights of the showroom include a working Steamist steam shower, deliberately designed in an accessible size for most clients to be able to replicate hotel spa luxury in their own bathroom, an interactive water area by Hansgrohe/Axor, which enables clients to see various spray patterns and finishes, and a working smart toilet, which is useful in explaining the benefits of the

technology.
Elaborating on that steam shower, Miller explains that it’s a great talking point because aromatherapy oils can be added to really sell the luxury. Additionally, it provides a chance for the team to demonstrate its technical prowess, needing, as it does, to include bespoke glass, with the ceiling fully tiled; it has to be fully sealed, so it’s a technical job. Although Scope Bathrooms designs and supplies, leaving the fitting to its trusted sub-contracted fitting firms, Miller says the showroom itself is “technically driven.” There is also a feature bay to showcase a collection of quirky and on-trend products to help inspire clients’ imagination.
“This includes the latest Il Bagno Alessi
range from Laufen, a freestanding Kaldewei bath, statement basins by Axor/Hansgrohe,” Miller explains. “The quirkiness is accentuated by a solid timber canopy and foliage.” For clients to discuss projects, there is a private meeting room, as well as a casual seating area. “We wanted to create a feeling of cosiness and for it to be welcoming and intimate,” Miller explains. “In terms of the designs of the bays we wanted to create everyday luxury designs - spaces our clients can easily imagine in their own homes. “The spaces are fully dressed, with lots of thought gone into the lighting and all the details, meaning you can sell a concept to a client. And hopefully, with the way that we’ve put the showroom together, the bathrooms sell themselves, making the job of our team easier too.”
