“We’re proud to say there’s a solution for everyone”

relationships with our team based on trust and transparency, which is so crucial. By pushing our boundaries and strengthening the business, we’re paying tribute to the hard work of the team in years gone by. We’ve earned our reputation by providing the best possible service and products, so we’re always mindful of not only upholding that standard but constantly improving.

Q: You’ve also recently launched a new walk-in shower enclosure – but what sets it apart from other products? A: Our modular walk-in collection offers the ultimate in bathroom personalisation across 28 configuration options, six colour finishes and a range of 8mm and 10mm panel and hardware options. This is a real game-changer for Lakes. We’re incredibly proud to be bringing our reputation for high quality, stylish and installer- friendly products into the walk-in market. Consumer demand for products that offer personalisation is growing all the time, so we’re confident that now is the right time to launch our modular walk-in range. We’re proud to say that whatever your showering space demand, style, or budget, our designs and market-leading engineering mean there’s a solution for everyone.

We caught up with Mike Gahir, MD at Lakes Shower Spaces, to hear his exciting future plans following the company’s recent MBO, as well as get an insight into its new modular shower enclosure collection

Q: How have the first few months been for Lakes following the management buyout? A: In a word – busy! 2024 is a big year for us, so we wanted to hit the ground running. We made it clear to our customers that this move was designed to build for the future with a continued sharp focus on supporting their requirements and needs. The aftermath of the buyout was focused on communication and the relationships we’ve built with our customers over the years. Of course, we couldn’t just stand still, so we’ve been busy working on new products, recruitment, driving sustainability and much more. We’ve also secured £3.5m in funding to support our future growth and we’re also making inroads to new sales channels, so the future is bright for us.

Q: What does the new management team plan to do to support retailers going forward? A: Our commitment to retailers remains the same – we will continue to support them with

Q:How do you plan to honour Lakes’ impressive heritage as you continue to grow? A: For Darren, Chris, Bev and I, the MBO was about preserving the legacy of Lakes founder Robin Craddock. It was important for us to build on the history that he’d created and acknowledge the value of his hard work. Our company culture is something we’re all proud of – for our staff it’s a great place to build a career and they’re so important to our journey. This also has a positive impact on our customers, who can build strong

Q: What can you tell me about the development of the new range? A: It’s important to assess the market – where it’s heading, what’s working well and what isn’t – to build a starting point. It’s challenging to develop an idea into something ready for market because the possibilities are endless, so we need to be sure that we’re creating something that fulfils a purpose and supports our customers. We create a concept, then consider things such as feasibility, design and market potential before continuing. We take great pride in the supply chain relationships we’ve built, and this really comes into sharp focus during product development. A key relationship for us is that with our factory in China. Regular visits to China from our team and vice-versa ensure that despite the distance, we remain on the same page. They understand how big of a deal the launch is to us and that goes a long way to getting the results we need.

Q: How have retailers been responding to the new modular collection so far? A: We expected a positive response and that’s exactly what we’ve seen. There was a lot of hard work behind the scenes so we were eager to see the response from our retail customers. Early sales have been strong so far and many customers wrote to us after the launch to tell us how impressed they were.
