FINALISTS IN FOCUS
lthough we revealed the names of this year’s kbbreview Retail & Design Awards fi nalists in the January issue, this month we’re telling you a bit more about the businesses, teams, designs and people that have made the grade this year. Get to know them better in our seven-page special feature, pages 29-35. As always, the winners will be revealed at a
glamorous awards ceremony, which will take place on Thursday, April 20 at The Depot in Cardiff. I’d like to wish every single one of our
fi nalists good luck – it’s an understatement to say that just getting to this stage is a huge achievement and they should all be extremely proud. As well as the usual presentation ceremony where the winners receive
their trophies, for the second year running one extremely lucky guest at the awards will walk away with a fantastic cash prize of £5,000 courtesy of our Grand Prize Partner Schlüter Systems. And make sure you don’t miss out on our incredible after-party – which is. once again, sponsored by Quooker UK.
Spaces at the awards are limited, but there is still time to book your place. Go to
kbbreview.com/awards for all the information. Elsewhere in the magazine, there is big news from the MDA sector
as two of the world’s biggest names in domestic appliances – Whirlpool and Arçelik – have taken the fi rst steps to create a new European business that may hold a signifi cant share of the appliance market. Head to page 4 for the full story. Tying in with this month’s National Apprenticeship Week, our big analysis looks at what stage the industry is at in terms of creating opportunities to encourage young people to pursue a career in the sector and help alleviate the skills-gap crisis that some believe will ‘irreversibly damage our industry’ [pgs 24-26].
That’s just a taster of what’s inside this issue and, as always, it would be good to hear your views on any of this month’s news, views, interviews and features.
