RYAN SMITH MIHEEM
R
yan Smith MIHEEM is an estates manager with Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust. With more than a decade of experience in NHS estates and facilities, he
supports the safe, effective, and resilient operation of healthcare environments, recognising that high-quality estates services are fundamental to patient care and staff experience. Ryan began his career at 16 as an electrical engineering apprentice with Morgan Advanced
Materials Plc. After ten years in industry, he moved into healthcare, where he developed strong expertise across operational estates management, contractor control, compliance, backlog maintenance, procurement, and service delivery. His work combines practical problem-solving with a strategic understanding of how estate performance underpins clinical services, business continuity, and organisational assurance. Ryan is particularly passionate about innovation, sustainability, and long-term value. He has led and supported a range of
initiatives focused on energy efficiency, infrastructure improvement, and Net Zero delivery, including successful work to secure funding for electric vehicle charging infrastructure across Trust sites from NHSE. He is also known for building robust invest-to-save cases that improve resilience, reduce carbon, and support better use of public resources.

Alongside operational delivery, Ryan is a strong
advocate for developing in-house capability and professional pride in service. He has championed practical solutions, traditional craftsmanship, and a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging
teams to take ownership, build confidence, and deliver high standards in challenging healthcare environments. Committed to lifelong learning, Ryan has continued to strengthen both his academic and professional credentials in facilities and asset management while developing as a leader within the NHS. He undertook a BSc (Hons) in Facilities and Asset Management and head of service apprenticeship, supporting his longer-term ambition to progress to head of facilities management, and is now working towards an MSc in Senior Leadership. Ryan’s leadership style brings together technical credibility and clear communication with a genuine commitment to
improvement and innovation. Whether supporting day-to-day operations or helping shape longer-term change, he remains focused on delivering safe, sustainable, and effective estates services that make a real difference across the healthcare estate. His approach is grounded in public service, collaboration, and the belief that estates teams play a vital role in creating environments where patients, staff, and services can thrive.
