Tere are seven
bookmaking companies registered in Jamaica which between them operate a total of 256
total sales per month (figure for March 2014) divided between J$229m for local racing and J$178m for simulcast racing.
Te sector is monitored by the Jamaica Racing Commission. Since 1965 when the government became involved, bookmaking on horse racing was legalised and was incorporated into the gaming Act. Te racing commission was later established to regulate the sector in 1972.
Betting (including bookmaker and pari-mutuel wagering) saw sales in 2015 of J$8.37bn with a gross profit of J$2.17bn. Te Caymanas Track accounted for half of the total sales (J$4.16bn).
Tere are seven bookmaking companies registered in Jamaica which between them operate a total of 256 betting offices consisting of 126 betting offices and 130 betting lounges. Bookmakers contribute around 58 per cent of the total gross profit for government levies.
Te main bookmaker is Post to Post Betting (P2P Betting and Gaming Entertainment) which also trades under Champion Betting, Markham Betting and Track Price Plus after these three companies merged in 2013 under the Post to Post parent company.
Post to Post has 173 locations (60 per cent of locations) across Jamaica whilst its Champion Betting is the top performer followed by Track Price primarily due to the larger network of
betting offices and betting lounges. Champion saw sales of J$1.69bn in 2015 whilst Track Price saw sales of J$1.03bn.
Other bookmakers include Capital Betting and Wagering Ltd with 12 locations, Caribbean Turf Services with eight, Prime Sports with 98 and Olympic Sports Data Services with one location.
Sports betting is the fastest growing sector and doubled its revenues between 2014 and 2015.
Sales in 2015 were a total of J$4bn divided between local horse racing J$1.77bn, simulcast J$1.06bn and sports betting J$1.16bn. A total 16.8 per cent increase on previous year total.
Racing promoter sales total was J$4.3bn divided between J$2.38bn for local horse racing and J$1.96bn for simulcast racing.
Sports Betting company Just Bet dominates this category with 74 per cent of total sales in 2015. Te company opened some 250 outlets during this year with the legislative amendment.
Just Bet is a brand operated by Supreme Ventures which has around 100 PoS offering betting on more than a dozen international sports. Minimum bet is J$50 and maximum J$50,000 (on one ticket) with maximum payouts of J$5m (on one ticket). Supreme Ventures also operates lottery games.
LBOs consisting of 126 betting offices and 130 lounges. Bookmakers
contribute around 58% of the total gross profit for government levies.
LOTTERY Total lottery sales in 2015 were J$36.1bn. Tis
sector continues to be the largest sector in terms of gross profit with 65 per cent of the total in 2015. Total prize money dished out was J$25.3bn (70 per cent)
Te government revenue from the lottery sector is generated by Prime Sports Jamaica Ltd (Supreme Ventures). Tis company also runs subsidiaries including Prime Sports Ltd (betting, gaming and lottery operations.) and Big A Track Ltd.
Supreme Ventures also operates VLT games throughout its gaming lounge sites, sports betting and lottery. Te company has 871 lottery agents and 1,093 lottery sales outlets.
Tere are 16 lottery style games and Cash Pot is its top generating lottery game with 72 per cent of total sales. Tis game comes with a fixed prize
