Te Caymanas Race Track is Jamaica’s only race track. In 1904 one of the first companies to promote horse racing was Knutsford Park Limited which had a monopoly for 20 years
can operate up to 500 slots with on track or in other premises (a maximum of four) with maximum two gaming machines, whilst OTBs can operate a maximum of 19 slots.

Totalisator can be set up on race courses or tracks or OTB remises and can be used for betting on approved sports betting, horse racing or dog racing. Racing is governed by the Jamaica Racing Commission.

GAMING LOUNGES l
Gaming Lounges (Slot halls) are granted licences for five years maximum and reviewed annually.

20 and 150 slots, entertainment, food and drink and offering wagers on horse racing and sports betting and lottery. Tose gaming lounges established before 2010 are allowed to increase their number of machines to maximum of 225 following an application to BGLC before 2019.

A hotel can operate one machine per every 10 rooms in a hotel (inside or outside the exclusive geographic area).

Owner or operator of a prescribed premises must pay a fee of J$1,000 per year and a levy of $2,500 in taxes each year. Discs must also be bought and displayed on each machine.

No new licences to operate more than five machines will be issued in the parishes of St James, Trelawny and Hanover.
l
Non-Gaming Lounges are for premises with less than 19 slots. Slots can be operated in bars, clubs, hotels, betting lounge and gaming lounges. Off track betting parlours and bars can operate a maximum of five whilst two in an LBO.

A Ship may own and posses gaming machines but cannot operate them whilst in Jamaican waters, specifically within a 12 mile radius of the mainland.
LOTTERIES l
All lotteries, bar those given a licence by BGLA are illegal. Some private lotteries are permitted for charitable purposes whilst the Caymanas Track (racing promoter) can operate up to two sweepstakes per year.
