PHILIPPINES – Landing International has meet with Philippines’s President Rodrigo Duterte and his cabinet to discuss building an international branded theme park integrated resort in the Philippines.


Dr. Yang Zhihui, Chairman and Executive Director of Landing International Development Limited and the company’s senior management met with President Rodrigo Duterte, President of the Philippines, and his cabinet team at Malacaňang Palace, Manila, Philippines on 4 September 2017, to present the company’s proposal to build a world-class international branded theme park integrated resort in the Philippines. President Duterte welcomed the company’s proposed investment into the Philippines and expressed his keen interest and overwhelming support to the company’s proposal.


Dr. Yang stated: “Following our first meeting with the President in May 2017 in Hong Kong to discuss investment opportunities in the Philippines, we are honoured to share with President Duterte and his cabinet team our vision for tourism in the country and our proposal to build an iconic international branded theme park integrated resort in the Philippines that all Filipinos will be proud of.


“This resort will comprise Asia’s first movie-themed indoor theme park, waterpark as well as many other leisure and entertainment facilities suited for all ages and families. When opened, the branded theme park integrated resort will enhance Philippines’ tourism appeal, complement the existing tourists’ attractions and resorts as well as create significant employment opportunities for the locals as well as returning Filipinos who are currently working overseas.”


SAIPAN – Imperial Pacific’s temporary casino Best Sunshine Live has delivered again in what are its last six months of results. The operator has shut the 16 table temporary facility and opened its gaming floor at Imperial Pacific Resort on July 6. It plans to open VIP rooms by the end of 2017.


The temporary venue reported an 83.1 per cent increase in GGR to HK$7.3bn for the six months to June 30 2017. VIP gaming generated HK$7.09bn for the period, up from HK$3.8bn year-on-year, with mass gaming tables generating HK$147m, marking an increase of 21.6 per cent. The operator’s slot machines and ETGs generated HK$34.1m, an increase of 27.5 per cent. VIP rolling chip came in at HK$196.3 billion, marking an 87.6 per cent increase on 2016 with each table generating an average of HK$443m in revenue during the first half of the year. When fully operational, Imperial Pacific Resort will house 193 gaming tables and 365 slots. It currently has 48 tables and 141 slots.

MGM Resorts CEO James Murren gave some pointers on the operator’s objectives in Japan at the Bank of America Merrill Lynch 2017 Japan Conference. He predicted that MGM Japan, an integrated casino resort which would demand an investment of $10bn, would open sometime in 2025.


Mr. Murren said MGM wanted to be part of a Japanese-led consortium but didn't specify whether the local partner would be a majority owner or not. "We commit to being a good partner to Japanese companies in a Japanese- led IR consortium," said Mr. Murren.

PAGCOR accredits GLI as offshore testing company

GLI has become the first independent laboratoy to be accredited by the Pagcor to test and certify online systems operated by holders of a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) license.

Ainsworth Game Technology has reported Profit after Tax of $37.9m for the year ended 30 June 2017, exceeding guidance by 2.5 per cent. Ainsworth delivered a strong second half performance, with $42.2m Profit Before Tax, an increase of 178 per cent on the $15.2m reported in the first half.


Chief Executive Officer Danny Gladstone said: “We continue to expand on strategies to broaden and diversify product offerings in established and new markets. With the introduction of new technologies and an increased range of innovative content, we expect to progressively grow market share and profitability across international and domestic markets. International sales account for 74 per cent of the group total.”
