PET Baltija acquires Czech fibre producer


Latvia-based PET recycler PET Baltija has announced an agreement to acquire leading Czech fibre producer Tesil Fibres from Silon. The sale of Tesil leaves Silon fully-focused on its technical and performance polyolefin compounding activities. Tesil Fibres has annual staple fibre production capacity of 33,000 tonnes and is a primary supplier to the European market, covering sectors including automotive, hygienic, textile and furniture. Last year its fibre division recorded sales of €27m. This vertical integration

New leaders at NGR


There have been changes at the top management level of Austrian recycling machine manufacturer NGR. Gerhard Ohler has been named new CEO, succeed- ing Wolfgang Steinwender, who has held the position since May 2020. Ohler, a 54-year-old industrial engineer, has many years of experience in extrusion technology and plastics recycling, having previously served as GM of KraussMaffei in Shanghai and MD at Greiner Packaging International. only be able to successfully continue along the path we have chosen, but also break new ground in plastics recycling.”


In addition, Guenther Klammer has been named as new Chief Technology Officer and will be responsi- ble for research and techni- cal developments within the company. He previously worked for Cincinnati Milacron, Erema, and most recently headed the Plasticis- ing Systems & Recycling division at Engel Austria. He has been responsible for numerous patent applica- tions during his career. SCGP moves into recycling


Thailand-based paper, card and plastic packaging manufacturer SCGP has moved into the materials recycling sector with the €78m acquisition of Peute in


the Netherlands. Peute recorded a revenue


of €249m in 2021 with a profit of €3.2m and had assets of €52m at the end of last year. It currently has the


ability to source 100,000 tonnes of recovered plastics, along with 1m tonnes of recovered paper each year. � www.scgpackaging.com


Herbold Meckesheim installs line in Turkey


The largest single-line recycling plant that Herbold Meckesheim has set up to date has gone into opera- tion at PET recycler Futura- pet in Düzce, Turkey. The installation includes a hot washing plant (pictured). Futurapet is a spin-off of the consumer goods corporation Engin Group. The factory in Düzce, 200km east of Istanbul, targets an annual production volume of more than 30,000 tonnes of recyclate. In the short

well-known producer of high-quality PET flakes used for films and bottle-to-bottle


production. The modularisation of its plant concept with stand- ardised assemblies enabled Herbold Meckesheim to implement construction quickly, and some modules were scaled up to enable Futurapet to achieve the required throughput.
