Users operate the system through the ProSortX 4.0 user interface, which is updated from the original ProSortX with new features, Industry 4.0 readiness and connectivity options that offer greater efficiency in operation and ease of use for the equipment operator and plant manager. A new home screen, with updated password protection, provides at-a-glance sorter performance data. A TrueColor function enables easy identification
of defects from gross to subtle, allowing the operator to make instant adjustments to the sorting parameters of the machine by highlighting all frame captures in real-time. Bühler says this results in intelligent improvements in both efficiency and yield. Frames can be stored and recalled for further analysis. The company said a Foreign Material Library capability makes monitoring and demon- strating the machine’s performance fast and simple. The TrueColor setting can be switched off and on at the touch of a button. The user interface also has the EasySim program
that simplifies set-up and fine tuning of the sorting settings by overlaying where the ejectors will fire onto a frame capture. This allows the operator to easily identify what will or will not be rejected, says

the company. Users can use the frame capture to simulate changes or adjustments in their settings without affecting the running unit, to minimise product loss and downtime. A new Test Mode function offers the ability to users to trial new settings on real product flow for a pre-determined time before committing to the settings, while an Undo button ensures that mistakes can be quickly and easily rectified. The sorter comes with the company’s built-in cloud-based monitoring system subscription that continuously measures input contamination and defect trends, providing operators with real-time monitoring of key performance indicators (KPIs) such as yield and throughput. Sortex N PolyVision comes with Bühler’s Insights
Connect platform that allows sorter performance to be monitored and alarm notifications to be transmitted to a mobile device. The Insights platform offers a simple gateway to connect devices, for the free flow of data from sensors, machines, and control units to a single secure storage location.
