Welsh ban on single- use plastics
The Welsh Government has published a draft plan for a law banning or restricting common single-use plastic items like straws, plates and takeaway containers in the country. Single-use plastic bags are also on the prohibited list, although there are proposed exemptions for certain items such as those relating to healthcare and medical products. The draft bill will be put
before the Welsh Parlia- ment in the autumn as the government presses ahead with its intention to limit single-use plastics. How the ban will be enforced has not been confirmed, but could involve fines and giving local authorities the power to carry out test purchases and raid premises.

Founder and President of
Circular Resources Carlos Monreal said: “The acquisi- tion is a milestone for closed-loop recycling. Circu- lar Resources will fully support the Green Dot group’s current licensing, waste collection and mechanical recycling businesses, which are performing very strongly,

and complement this by introducing large scale chemical recycling.” Circular Resources has
taken over the entire group of companies with all shares, and the Green Dot manage- ment team remains on board. The companies will continue to operate and develop in their current form, the aim being to continue to grow together
and increase the volume of high quality recyclates produced. From a wider perspective,
the deal is expected to unlock further synergies between mechanical and chemical recycling in Europe that will allow plastics currently being lost from the value chain to be brought back into the recycling loop.
