SpeedCell, a system of securely connected prod- ucts. The first components of the SpeedCell include two new products that provide a powerful solution for additive manu- facturing at scale. The M2 is a robust, industrial- grade 3D printer and the Smart Part Washer enables optimal cleaning and easy finishing of parts. Carbon says that its
Continuous Liquid Interface Production (Clip) technology coupled with the SpeedCell system enables production of previously impossible designs, from single-part combinations of complex assemblies to un-mouldable and un-millable geometries like lattices, while also minimising the tooling and prototyping stages of the design process to go directly to end-use part production. “SpeedCell combines our reliable M Series machines, data-rich platform and ever-expanding base of production-quality resins to give our partners the tools to massively change the way they think about design and production,” says Dr. Joseph DeSimone, co-founder and CEO of Carbon. “For our customers, this means that their product development cycles no longer need to include the antiquated traditional manufacturing process steps of designing, prototyping, tooling, and then production. Instead, products can be designed and engineered on a platform that is also the means of production, eliminating prototyping and tooling steps. This dis-intermediation is at the core of Carbon’s role in accelerating the much- anticipated digital revolution in manufacturing.” According to the company, SpeedCell achieves
better production workflow and output by integrat- ing multiple key operations, including part printing and part washing, to facilitate cost-effective part production. Twice the build area of the M1, the M2 enables the printing of larger parts or more parts per build with the same resolution and isotropic quality as Carbon’s M1 printer. The Smart Part Washer automates repeatable part washing, the next step in the additive manufacturing process. SpeedCell also features multiple Carbon Connec- tors, which enable hardware extensions to support additional system capabilities in the future. Finnish company MiniFactory is introducing the

PEEK. The company says that the Innovator 2 has the robust technology of previous products, but with further improvements. These include an actively heated chamber with liquid cooling system to allow the high and stable tempera- tures required for PEEK printing, with a design that enables dimensionally accurate and precisely repeatable prints. A clean printing result is achieved due to inactive extruder lift and nozzle cleaning functions
in the separable dual extruders. The company adds that the Innovator 2 has a fully automatic calibra- tion process that ensures optimal first layer adhesion in printing, with easy to use guided control via a 7 inch touch screen. There is in-built activated carbon and HEPA filtering. The Rize One 3D printer has been launched in
the European market. Rize says that it is suitable for the additive manufacturing laboratory, the engi- neering office or virtually any field location. Accord- ing to the company, it produces watertight and isotropic-strength thermoplastic parts, with detailed text and images. Limited post-processing is needed after 3D printing. The Rize One uses the company’s Augmented Polymer Deposition (APD) technology. Rize adds that manufacturing engi- neers can also place a Rize One 3D printer next to the assembly line to build custom or replacement tooling, fixtures and jigs on demand, avoiding costly down time and excess inventory. In addition, Rize One is said to be ideal for producing a low volume of bespoke end-use parts efficiently. APD involves simultaneous extrusion of engi- neering plastics and jetting selective additives wherever they are needed to change the character- istic of the material. Functional inks are used for removal of support material or the creation of text and images on the part.
