SHOW PREVIEW | FAKUMA 2017

Right: Milacron will show an Elektron EVO machine demonstrating medical clean room moulding

finishing. KraussMaffei says 16 various surfaces (and there- fore 16 design variants) of a plastic game console housing will be created on the CX 200-750 in a 16-cavity mould. KraussMaffei calls the CX

200 “an extremely cost-effec- tive and precise two-platen machine”. It includes a drive concept using state-of-the-art technology (energy-efficient IE3-type motors) as well as the energy-efficient BluePower servo drive. An active accumulator management system completes the overall concept. www.kraussmaffei.com

Meusburger will show new products for mould makers at Fakuma, such as the E 8630 Gear unit for stack moulds, which has ground and induction hardened gear wheels and gear racks in modules 3 and 4. The newly developed E 2187 Isotemp hose is also being exhibited at the trade fair. The high temperature hose ensures greater safety during the injection moulding process through a new silicone sheath. The GMT 6000 Precision cutting and grinding machine will be presented for the first time and put into operation live on the stand. Meusburger has enlarged its range of standard

parts with standard bars in the lengths 300mm and 1,200mm. The bars and plates are heat treated for stress relief which reduces the potential for plate warping during machining. The multifunctional H 1000 Clamping system is

one of the company’s established products at the show. The system enables precise clamping of the plates with repeatable accuracy at fine tolerances. www.meusburger.com

At Fakuma, Milacron is showing the broad product range for injection moulders and mould-makers that it has become known for. An all-electric Elektron EVO machine will demon- strate medical clean room moulding, showcas- ing its low energy use, stroke precision and reliable performance. In packaging, a Ferromatik 360 machine, with integrated Mold-Masters Temp- Master iM2 controller, will produce an IML container. For the automotive sector, a Magna Toggle Servo 200 machine, with a Mold-Mas- ters TempMaster M1 controller, will demonstrate

physical foaming using Trexel’s Mucell system. In hot runners, Milacron’s Mold-Masters business has developed the new Dura+ hot runner for automotive lens and lighting applications. The new angled manifold designs make installations easier and reduce the cost on mould machining. Mold- Masters says new gating styles and new valve pins with superior flow profile allow for “perfect” gate quality and the new heater path at main manifolds offer less zones to control without jeopardising the thermal balancing. Also, new valve pin position sensors fine tune the injection process and dual thermocouples on nozzles to avoid production fails. Mold-Masters is also highlighting new colour change tips in its Sprint hot runner range. Accord- ing to the company, the new tips improve colour change by up to 47%, versus a standard gate tip. Other group companies at Fakuma are DME Mold Technology Solutions, Tirad High Precision Mold Bases and Milacron Direct Industrial Supplies. www.milacron.com

Projects from the first Motan Innovation Award in 2016 will be displayed on the Motan-Colortronic stand. Motan employee Peter Haupt designed a unit which combines the steps for dosing/mixing and drying in one single unit. The energy used in standard material flow constellations can instead be used more efficiently. The second project at Fakuma is the “octa-flow bag” by Karl Wolfgang, also a Motan engineer. With Octabins, material residue has to be vacuumed off after the bin has been emptied. This new develop- ment automatically brings any residual material to the centre of the Octabin, where it can be removed easily. A prototype cross section and screen animation will be displayed at the stand. www.motan-colortronic.com

The intricacies of co-injection will be explored by Netstal at Fakuma, where it will be manufacturing three-layer coffee capsules. An all-electric Elion 1200-250/120 machine will produce the capsules
