SHOW PREVIEW | FAKUMA 2017

Right: FarragTech’s energy

optimised CARD R compressed air resin dryer

Engel will show the potential for its Clearmelt surface technology, so far used for interior automotive parts, in exterior applications. A Duo 2460/500 injection moulding machine will produce high gloss exterior panels with superior scratch-proof surfaces thanks to the polyurethane coating that is integral to Clearmelt. Engel’s all-electric E-Mac machines will be available in a new clamping force class. Until now, the series has been available with clamp- ing forces of up to 1,800 kN. At Fakuma, a new E-Mac 940/280 machine with 2800 kN clamping force will make sophisticated connector housings for vehicle doors. Three iQ products are installed on the machine: iQ weight control, iQ clamp control and the company’s new iQ flow control for the needs-based regulation of the temperature control units. A redesigned stainless steel pipe distributor for the cavity specific handling of small injection moulding parts will be shown in a medical clean- room demonstration. An Engel E-Victory 170/80 machine will be producing needle holders for 1ml safety syringes in a 16-cavity mould from Fostag Formenbau. An Engel Viper 12 linear robot will remove the filigree PS parts from the mould and transfer them to the distribution system. In LSR moulding, Engel is demonstrating

production of venting valves for beverage bottles on a Victory 860/160 machine. This will be the first trade fair in which a Victory machine is shown with a next generation injection unit that Engel unveiled at K 2016. In the re-engineering of its hydraulic injection units, Engel reorganised the sizes of the units and further optimised the performance specifications such as injection pressure, injection speed, and plasticising capacity. www.engelglobal.com

The CARD compressed air dryer series from FarragTech is based on the dual-circuit com-

pressed air principle and can be additionally combined with a compressor as well as a heat exchanger. This combination leads to energy savings and a reduction in operating costs, says the company. It says the average saving potential is almost 70%, because the resin to be dried is preheated in the upper part of the hopper in heated ambient air. The drying process takes place in parallel in the lower part so that only about 30% of the usual compressed air is required in

contrast to pure compressed air dryers at the same material throughput. The CARD R system, which makes its debut at

Fakuma, is a further development of the CARD M/L series and is supplied with a stand-alone compres- sor, the heat from which can be recovered. The new CARD R is individually designed for each customer. www.farragtech.com

Greiner Assistec, the Greiner Packaging group’s technology and services business, is highlighting its expertise in the field of LSR injection moulding at Fakuma. Greiner Assistec works with its customers to offer customised technology solutions that includes mould and process technology procure- ment, as well as component optimisation. The company says it has established itself as an

expert in silicone products combined with thermo- plastics. Its turnkey solution business can provide the customer with every product component from a single source. “We hope to use the trade fair as a chance to talk with the visitors. By expanding our business activities to include liquid silicone rubber, we are positioning ourselves as a complete supplier. That is what we want to show everyone. Our broad range of available technologies allows us to support our customer in every imaginable sector,” said Wolfgang Rotschopf, Sales Director for Assistec. www.greiner-gpi.com

Hasco is showing a series of new mould base products at Fakuma. These include optimised locating guide bushes with a circlip groove and new, individually configurable nameplates for the identification of moulds. For lifting and moving moulds, it has developed fastening devices like the load ring and rotatable eye screw. Additions to its technology range in temperature control permit customised, practically oriented solutions for tool
